Moving away from Minimalism

There appears to be a shift in the trends of current jewelry, if the recent couture shows in Paris are anything to go by. The modern world has bought with it the element of post-modernism, a way for peoples to look back at the fashions of past eras and try to recapture the nostalgia that goes along with them.
High end jewelry has leaned on minimalism recently, understating those who adorn these accessories in a deep contrast to a world of heavy overstatement and fleeting humility.
But
this contrast appears to be losing pace with the world- big, bold,
brash pieces are well on the way back. Whether a nod to the roaring
1920s or the flamboyant 1980s, jewelry is increasingly relying on loud,
mismatched color schemes simulating a vibrant ‘party’ atmosphere.
Of
course, these things go in waves, yet the allure of unique, funky
pieces seems to capture the spirit of a millennial generation determined
to break from conformity. This may be as a result of relaxing dress
codes giving birth to freedom of expression, and now the youth of today
can know every decision they make is a representation of their
individual outlook on the world. It is something to be celebrated.
